Back to Trellis

Security

Trellis connects to your bank and looks after your family's financial life. Keeping that information safe is the foundation of the app — here's exactly how your data is protected.

Read-only bank access

Trellis connects to your accounts through Plaid, the bank-linking service used by many of the finance apps you already know. We request only Plaid's transaction data — merchant names, amounts, and dates. Trellis reads those transactions to build your budget; it can never move money, make payments, or transfer funds.

Your bank login details are never shared with us or stored on our servers. Plaid handles the sign-in directly with your bank, and you can disconnect any account at any time from within the app.

Encryption at rest and in transit

Your data is encrypted both while it travels to us and while it's stored. Receipt photos, recipes, and shopping images live in private, access-controlled storage — never in public buckets.

Private to you

Every record in Trellis is protected by row-level security, so your budget, transactions, and goals are visible only to you and the household members you choose to invite. No other user can reach your data.

Lock the app

Turn on Face ID or fingerprint lock in Settings and Trellis asks for it every time you reopen the app, so your finances stay private even when your phone isn't.

You're in control

  • Disconnect any bank account at any time, right from the app.
  • Delete your account whenever you want — we revoke your bank connections and delete the stored access tokens.
  • Sign in with Apple or Google if you'd rather not manage another password.
  • Request a copy of your data, or its deletion, by emailing [email protected].

Connecting an AI assistant

If you choose to connect an outside AI assistant — such as Claude — to Trellis, that connection is protected by multi-factor authentication and can be revoked at any time. It only exists if you set it up yourself.

We never sell your data

Trellis is funded by subscriptions, not by your information. We do not sell your personal or financial data — to anyone, ever.
