Welcome to Trellis

By using Trellis ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. We've tried to keep this readable - no one likes legalese.

What Trellis does

Trellis is a personal finance and meal planning tool that helps you understand your spending, find savings opportunities, plan meals for your family, and make smarter shopping decisions. It is not financial advice. We're a budgeting tool, not a financial advisor. Always consult a qualified professional for financial decisions.

Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old to use Trellis.
• You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
• One account per person. Don't share your login.
• Provide accurate information - we need it to give you useful recommendations.

Your data

You own your data. When you connect a bank account via Plaid, scan receipts, or enter family details, that information belongs to you. We process it to provide our services, as described in our Privacy Policy. You can request deletion at any time.

Data retention & deletion

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide our services. When you delete your account, all associated data - including transaction history, spending analysis, meal plans, recipes, and personal information - is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days. Plaid connections are revoked and associated access tokens are deleted.

You can request data deletion at any time by contacting [email protected] or using the delete account option in the app.

Subscriptions & free trials

Some features require a premium subscription, managed through RevenueCat. Subscription terms:

• Billing occurs through your app store (Apple App Store or Google Play).
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's subscription settings (Apple: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions; Android: Play Store > Subscriptions).
• Refunds are handled by the respective app store per their policies.

If a free trial is offered, the trial duration and what happens when it ends (including the subscription price and billing frequency) will be clearly displayed before you start the trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin at the stated price.

AI-generated content

Trellis uses artificial intelligence (powered by OpenAI) to generate meal suggestions, recipes, nutrition estimates, and other recommendations. You should be aware that:

• AI-generated content is for informational purposes only and may contain errors or inaccuracies.
• Meal suggestions and recipes are not medical or dietary advice. Always consult your doctor or a registered dietitian for specific dietary needs, especially for young children.
• Nutrition estimates (calories, protein, carbs, etc.) are approximate and should not be relied upon for medical dietary requirements.
• Always check all ingredients for potential allergens before preparing any suggested meal. While Trellis allows you to specify dietary restrictions and allergies, AI-generated recipes may not account for all allergens or cross-contamination risks.
• Trellis is not responsible for adverse reactions to suggested meals or recipes.

Acceptable use

Don't:

• Use Trellis for anything illegal.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the app.
• Upload fake or fraudulent financial data.
• Resell or redistribute Trellis features.

Accuracy & limitations

We do our best to provide accurate spending analysis, deal information, and savings estimates. However:

• Deal prices and availability may change without notice.
• Product swap suggestions are recommendations, not guarantees.
• Savings estimates are projections based on your data and may vary.
• Grocery store locations and availability are provided by third-party services and may not always be current.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Trellis and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to:

• Financial decisions made based on spending analysis or savings recommendations.
• Adverse reactions to AI-suggested meals, recipes, or ingredients, including allergic reactions.
• Inaccurate nutrition information or dietary recommendations.
• Incorrect deal prices, product availability, or store information.
• Loss of data or service interruptions.

You use Trellis at your own risk. The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

Changes to the service

We may update, modify, or discontinue features of Trellis. We'll give reasonable notice for significant changes. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted per our Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Trellis shall be resolved in the courts located in California.
